Apple will allow EU users to download applications directly from the websites of app developers, rather than being limited to the App Store and third-party app stores. This new policy is set to begin later this spring. It represents a new concession from Apple to EU regulatory authorities. However, developers will still need to pay fees to Apple for each download that exceeds a certain threshold, unless they qualify for an exemption.
