Elon Musk announced that xAI, an artificial intelligence startup he owns, will open-source the source code of its chatbot, Grok. It is currently unclear which specific parts of Grok will be freely released by xAI. Grok was launched at the end of 2023 and is capable of tasks such as information retrieval and assisting in programming. Industry analysts believe that Musk intends to compete with his rival, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, through this open-source initiative. Earlier this month, Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of violating its commitment to open-source, non-profit AI.
