Musk stated on Twitter that the Direct-to-Cell technology is only effective in areas without cellular network coverage. The technology is considered a complement to the networks provided by telecommunications companies. Several months ago, Starlink collaborated with T-Mobile to test the Direct-to-Cell phone service. Starlink launched its first batch of satellites supporting Direct-to-Cell earlier this year, reportedly achieving a maximum download speed of 7Mbit/s per beam at that time.
