Apple has reversed its decision to no longer support web applications for European users. In the final version of iOS 17.4, which is set to be released later this month, Progressive Web Apps (PWA) will continue to function on WebKit. Apple stated, “We have received requests to continue supporting Home Screen web apps on iOS… We will continue to support Home Screen web apps in the European Union.” However, it did not specify whether the requests came from the EU or users. Last month, Apple announced that it would no longer support web applications in the EU starting from iOS 17.4, but this decision subsequently drew attention and investigation from the EU.
