US media giant Vice Media has announced the cessation of maintenance for its media website Vice.com and the layoffs of hundreds of employees. The website plans to transition towards social platforms. According to the company’s CEO, Bruce Dixon, distributing digital content in the previous manner is no longer cost-effective. In the future, Vice Media will seek partnerships with traditional media companies to publish news and other digital content on their global platforms, fully transitioning to a studio model.
