Insiders have revealed that the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden is considering providing over $10 billion in subsidies for the construction of Intel’s new chip factories. Intel is currently building several new chip plants in the United States. The subsidies would include loans and direct grants, and negotiations on the matter are underway. These subsidies are part of the “American Chips Act,” which allocates a total of $53 billion to strengthen the U.S. chip industry. This includes subsidies for new chip factories and investments in semiconductor research and development. Both Intel and the U.S. Department of Commerce, responsible for overseeing the distribution of subsidies under the “Chips Act,” have declined to comment.
