Apple plans to charge fees to developers who offer app download services outside of the App Store. According to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, Apple is required to allow European iOS users to support sideloading of applications starting from March. It is expected that EU users will be able to sideload applications on their devices with the iOS 17.4 update. Apple has not yet disclosed the aforementioned fee plans and details, and these plans may be subject to change. Observers believe that the new fee measures could potentially strain the relationship between Apple and app developers once again.
Additionally, even with support for sideloading, Apple will monitor any applications downloaded outside of the App Store.
