The report from application analytics company Data.ai shows that TikTok has become the fifth non-gaming application to surpass the milestone of $10 billion in consumer spending. The other four gaming applications are Candy Crush Saga ($1.2 billion), Honor of Kings ($1.1 billion), Monster Strike ($1.06 billion), and Clash of Clans ($1.02 billion). In 2023, TikTok’s transaction volume reached $3.8 billion (year-to-date), an increase of approximately 15% compared to 2022 when in-app purchases (IAP) amounted to $3.3 billion. China and the United States have always been money-making machines for TikTok, each contributing about 30% of IAP revenue. TikTok does not have a paid subscription plan; instead, users purchase TikTok Coins (virtual currency) to buy virtual gifts and reward live stream creators, with TikTok taking a cut from creator rewards as its source of income.
