The Android version of the open-source office suite LibreOffice has returned. The development team has released a new version client called “LibreOffice Viewer” on the F-Droid app store and Google Play. This application mainly provides document viewing and reading functions, with very limited editing capabilities. The developers say that the editing function is still unstable. LibreOffice Viewer uses the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, Mac, and Linux, allowing it to open locally stored open document formats (.odt, .ods, .odp) and Microsoft Office documents (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), but it does not support displaying documents on Google Drive or OneDrive. Previously, LibreOffice had versions for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. The old Android version was withdrawn in 2020 due to lack of maintenance.
