Google Translate web version (Translate.google.com) has recently added image translation functionality. This feature was previously available on the Google Lens app and is now extended to Google Translate. Simply switch to the image tab and upload a photo (in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format) from your device to quickly get the translation result. Users can choose to download the translated image or directly copy the translated text.
“We have heard your feedback, and we are pleased to announce that image translation is now available on Translate.google.com. The feature will be rolling out over the next few days. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new experience. Try it out and let us know what you think.”
Google Translate is facing a threat from the rising popularity of ChatGPT, which has prompted Google to improve its products and services to avoid further user loss.
